Get your Windows PC to wake up for incoming connections

Screens supports wake-on-lan (WOL) for automatic connections. When initiating a remote connection, Screens will try to wake up your computer.

Note: If you're connecting to a laptop, make sure it's connected to a power source.

Here's what you need to do to make sure your computer wakes up when you connect:

Configure your computer to wake up on network access

  1. Open Device Manager > Network Adapters.
  2. Right click your network adapter and click Properties.
  3. Open up the Power Management (or Advanced) option and make sure Wake on Magic Packet or Wake On LAN is enabled.
  4. Click OK to save your settings.

Once you've done, put your PC to sleep and try to launch a connection from Screens to test your configuration.

Prevent Your Computer From Sleeping

For a more reliable remote access, we recommend setting your PC to not go to sleep. Here's how you can proceed:

  1. Open up the Power Options applet in the Control Panel.
  2. Make sure your PC is set to not go to sleep when connected to a power source.
