The Basics
At Edovia, we believe in your right to privacy and are committed to protecting it. Our business earns its revenue by selling software, never by monetizing your private data. Our privacy policy can be summarized in one line:
We don't sell or rent any of your data to third parties, ever.
Additionally, we collect and retain as little data as reasonably necessary. Minimizing data collection reduces the incentive for malicious actors to target our databases and mitigates potential consequences in the unlikely event of a breach.
Below, you'll find more details on the data we collect and the third-party services we use.
Our Apps
Screens 4
You can delete your data (including saved screens stored locally, on iCloud, and Dropbox, as well as passwords and settings) at any time:
- iOS: Go to the Screens app settings (gear icon) → More Settings → Delete All Content and Settings.
- macOS: Go to the Screens app menu → Preferences… → Advanced → Delete All Content and Settings.
If you have a Screens Connect Account (formerly Screens ID), you can delete your account by navigating to:
App Settings → Screens Connect → Delete Screens Connect Account.
Screens 4 may access our secure Screens Connect server (https://screensconnect.com) if you are signed in with your Screens Connect Account. This is necessary to fetch information for remote computer connections.
If purchased directly from our secure website, Screens for macOS may contact:
- Paddle (our third-party payment processor).
- Our server at https://store.edovia.com to validate your license.
Screens 5
You can delete your data (including saved screens stored locally or on iCloud, as well as passwords and settings) at any time:
From the Screens 5 app settings on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Vision Pro, navigate to Privacy → Erase All Content and Settings.
Screens 5 may connect to our secure Screens Connect server (https://screensconnect.com) if you are signed in with your Screens Connect Account. This connection is required to fetch data for remote computer connections.
- Anonymous Usage Statistics: Screens 5 may collect anonymous usage statistics to help improve the app, identify errors, and address them. You can change this preference at any time in the app settings under Privacy.
- Subscription Information: Screens 5 may collect subscription details to validate purchases.
- Crash Reports: Screens 5 collects anonymous crash report data via our partner Sentry.
- Public IP Address: Screens 5 uses your public IP address via ipify to distinguish nearby computers from one location to another, especially when multiple computers share the same name and hostname.
Screens Connect (4 and 5)
The information associated with your Screens Connect Account (e.g., computer information, public IP address, public port) is encrypted and transmitted securely.
- Connection Details: Your connection never passes through our server. Screens Connect only stores the data needed to locate your computer for remote connections. Usernames and passwords are never stored on our server.
- Account Management: You can unregister computers and delete your Screens Connect Account via the Screens Connect website or the Screens 5 app settings.
Screens Assist (formerly Screens Express)
Information associated with your computer (e.g., public IP address, public port) is encrypted and transmitted securely. No data is stored outside the app when it is not in use. Once you quit Screens Assist, all data is automatically removed from our server.
TouchPad, NumPad, and Currencies
These apps store no data outside the app. Deleting them from your iOS device removes all local data associated with them.
Motorist
You can delete your data (including saved data stored locally and on iCloud) at any time:
- App Settings: Go to the Motorist app settings (gear icon) → Scroll Down → Delete All Content and Settings.
Version Checking
To provide new features and fixes, Screens 4 for Mac, Screens Assist, and Screens Connect (4 & 5) periodically checks for updates by sending its name, current version, and OS version to our server. This process does not involve personally identifiable information.
You can opt out of version checking in the app’s Preferences. Disabling this feature stops all communication with our servers. We recommend leaving it enabled to ensure you’re using the latest version.
Crash Reporting
Some of our apps include a crash-reporting feature that helps us diagnose and fix issues. Crash reports include non-identifiable data such as stack traces, computer type, OS version, and log files. This feature runs automatically after a crash.
Support
If you contact us with a diagnostics report, we may access your Screens Connect Account and related data to assist with your issue.
- Diagnostics Reports: These may include details about computers you’ve connected to, detected nearby computers, and specific app settings. You can consult this article for more details.
Email List
Our software displays a one-time prompt to join our email newsletter. By entering your email, you’ll join a one-way mailing list for relevant platforms (Mac or iOS). Newsletters typically include major product updates, sneak peeks, and special discounts (about three emails per year).
- Unsubscribing: Every email contains a clear unsubscribe link.
- Privacy: We never sell, rent, or share email lists. Our trusted mailing list provider is the only third party with access to these lists.
Third-Party Services Used
We work with trusted third parties who provide specific services. These include:
- Zendesk: Hosted support help desk software.
- Campaign Monitor: Mailing list services.
- Typekit: Custom website fonts.
- Sentry: Crash reporting.
