The basics
At Edovia, we believe in your right to privacy and are committed to protecting it. Our company generates revenue by selling software, never by monetising your private data. Our privacy policy can be summarised in one sentence:
We never sell or rent your data to third parties.
In addition, we collect and store as little data as necessary. Minimising data collection reduces the incentive for malicious actors to target our databases and mitigates potential consequences in the unlikely event of a breach.
Below you will find further details on the data we collect and the third party services we use.
Our apps
Screens 4
You can delete your data (including screens stored locally, in iCloud and Dropbox as well as passwords and settings) at any time:
- iOS: Go to the app settings Screens (gear icon) → More settings → Delete all content and settings.
- macOS: Go to the app menu Screens → Settings... → Advanced → Delete all content and settings.
If you have a Screens Connect account (formerly Screens ID), you can delete your account by navigating to the following path: **App settings → Screens Connect → Screens Connect Delete account.
Screens 4 can access our secure Screens Connect server (https://screensconnect.com) if you are logged in with your Screens Connect account. This is required to retrieve information for remote computer connections.
If Screens for macOS is purchased directly from our secure website, it can contact:
- Paddle (our third-party payment processor).
- Our server at https://store.edovia.com to validate your licence.
Screens 5
You can delete your data (including screens stored locally or in iCloud as well as passwords and settings) at any time:
In the app settings of Screens 5 on your iPhone, iPad, Mac or Vision Pro, navigate to Privacy → Delete all content and settings.
Screens 5 can connect to our secure Screens Connect server (https://screensconnect.com) if you are logged in with your Screens Connect account. This connection is required to retrieve data for remote computer connections.
-
Anonymous usage statistics: Screens 5 may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app, identify bugs and fix them. You can change this setting at any time in the app settings under Privacy**.
-
Subscription information**: Screens 5 may collect subscription details to confirm purchases.
-
Crash reports: Screens 5 collects anonymous crash report data through our partner Sentry.
-
Public IP address: Screens 5 uses your public IP address via ipify to distinguish nearby computers from one location to another, especially when multiple computers have the same name and hostname.
Screens Connect (4 and 5)
The information associated with your Screens Connect account (e.g. computer information, public IP address, public port) is encrypted and transmitted securely.
- Connection details: Your connection never goes through our server. Screens Connect only stores the data required to locate your computer for remote connections. Usernames and passwords are never stored on our server. - Account management**: You can log out computers and delete your Screens Connect account via the Screens Connect website or the app settings Screens 5.
Screens Assist (formerly Screens Express)
Information linked to your computer (e.g. public IP address, public port) is encrypted and transmitted securely. When the app is not in use, no data is stored outside the app. As soon as you exit Screens Assist, all data is automatically removed from our server.
TouchPad, NumPad and currencies
These apps do not save any data outside the app. If you delete them from your iOS device, all associated local data will be removed.
Motorist
You can delete your data (including data stored locally and in iCloud) at any time:
- App settings: Go to the app settings of Motorist (gear icon) → Scroll down → Delete all content and settings.
Version check
To provide new features and bug fixes, Screens 4 for Mac, Screens Assist and Screens Connect (4 & 5) regularly checks for updates by sending its name, current version and operating system version to our server. This process does not contain any personal data.
You can deactivate the version check in the settings of the app. If you deactivate this function, all communication with our servers will be interrupted. We recommend leaving it enabled to ensure that you are using the latest version.
Crash reports
Some of our apps include a crash reporting feature to help us diagnose and fix problems. Crash reports contain non-identifiable data such as stack traces, computer type, operating system version and log files. This function is executed automatically after a crash.
Support
If you contact us with a diagnostic report, we can access your Screens Connect account and related data to help you with your problem.
- Diagnostic reports**: These can include details of computers you have been connected to, nearby computers detected and specific app settings. For more details, see this article.
Email list
Our software displays a one-time prompt to subscribe to our email newsletter. By entering your email address, you subscribe to a one-way mailing list for relevant platforms (Mac or iOS). Newsletters typically contain important product updates, previews and special discounts (approximately three emails per year).
- Unsubscribe**: Each email contains a unique unsubscribe link.
- Privacy: We never sell, rent or share email lists. Our trusted mailing list provider is the only third-party provider with access to these lists.
Third party services used
We work with trusted third-party providers who provide certain services. These include:
- Zendesk: Hosted support helpdesk software.
- Campaign Monitor: Mailing list services.
- Sentry: Crash reports.
