Configuring a Secure Connection in Screens

If the remote computer is properly configured (see Configuring Computers for Remote Access), Screens can establish a secure connection to that computer using SSH. This connection method wraps the normal Screen Sharing/VNC connection within an encrypted SSH tunnel to prevent mischievous or malicious activity.

Screens for macOS

  • Create or edit a saved screen.
  • Under the Secure Connection tab, activate Enable Secure Connections.
  • If Screens Connect doesn't manage this saved screen, enter the Host (local hostname, URL, or IP address), Port, Username, and Password (or select an SSH key).

Screens for iOS

  • Create or edit a saved screen.
  • Activate Secure Connection.
  • If Screens Connect doesn't manage this saved screen, enter the Host (local hostname, URL, or IP address), PortUsername, and Password (or select an SSH key).
  • Optionally, activate Enable on Local Network.
