URL Schemes

Screens supports three different URL schemes. All three will prompt for a username and a password, if required and not specified in the URL.

SCREENS://

Use this prefix to quickly open a saved screen. This prefix is particularly useful with application launchers such as Contrast's Launch Center Pro, shown below.

Usage

screens://ip address|hostname|name

Examples

screens://10.0.1.10

screens://Johns-MacBook-Pro.local

screens://Johns-MacBook-Pro

VNC://

Use this prefix to connect to a computer you don't have a saved screen for.

Usage

vnc://[username@]ip address|hostname[:port][?password=password]

Examples

vnc://10.0.1.10

vnc://10.0.1.10:5900

vnc://john@Johns-MacBook-Pro.local

vnc://john@Johns-MacBook-Pro.local?password=sekret

SSH://

This prefix requires the same parameters as the vnc:// prefix, except that a secure connection is established.

Usage

ssh://[username@]ip address|hostname[:port][?password=password]

Examples

ssh://10.0.1.10

ssh://10.0.1.10:22

ssh://john@Johns-MacBook-Pro.local

ssh://john@Johns-MacBook-Pro.local?password=supersekret
