Waking a Sleeping Mac

Screens supports the wake-on-demand feature included in OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and later. To enable this feature (based on macOS 10.12 Sierra):

 

  • Launch System Preferences.
  • Click Energy Saver.
  • Click Power Adapter.
  • Enable Wake for network access options (e.g. Wake for Wi-Fi network access).

Considerations

  • By design, Apple laptops will not wake from sleep if not connected to an AC power source. macOS 10.12 Sierra, under the Battery tab pictured above, does not offer wake options, but older versions of the Energy Saver preferences pane might not make this so clear, as pictured below.
